CFSA Reports and Assessments Following are internal reports that provide important facts and statistics about the District's most vulnerable children and families. These reports are key steps towards institutionalizing best practices in child welfare. Reports                    Description                                                                           The 2007 Needs Assessment is an intentional evaluation of current and projected placement and placement resource services for children, youth and families served by the child welfare system. It particularly examines the resource needs of siblings, children with special needs, older youth, and youth who experience multiple placements. Additionally, it takes a special look at one of the most vulnerable populations -- children ages 0 - 3 years. 2007 Needs Assessment*       The 2007 Annual Public Report uses data from CFSA's federally-approved Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS)--also referred to as FACES. Data is also pulled from the findings of the 2007 Child and Family Services Review (CFSR), which is a comprehensive federal review of the District's child welfare system. Additionally, the report intergrates findings from evaluative summaries of the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) as well as findings from other CFSA publications. The report provides an overview of the accomplishments and challenges of specific programs that support achievement of safety, permanency, and well-being for children in foster care and their families. 2007 Annual Public Report* This assessment reports the current available public and private programs for Child Abuse and Neglect prevention in the District of Columbia. It includes programs that are funded and/or administered by government agencies, community-based and national non-profits, schools, hospitals, and the Healthy Families/Thriving Communities Collaboratives, as well as other types of organizations identified during the course of the report. An Assessment of District Programs to Prevent Child Abuse and Neglect* CFSA conducted several evaluations and assessments to better understand quality of practice and performance outcomes. CFSA also prepared and initial draft of Mental Health Needs Assessment to identify the mental and behavioral health needs of children and youth in out-of-home care and to recommend ways to enhance collaboration with the DC Department of Mental Health. This report concludes with agency-wid recommendations for further improving our case practice system.Quality Assurance Report* This report for FY 2006 uses data from CFSA's federally approved Statewisde Automated Information System (SACWIS) - known locally as FACES- and from reports of the federal Adminsitration for Children and Families (ACF), the Center for the Study of Social Policy (court-appointed monitor under the LaShawn lawsuit), the District's Court Improvement Project (CIP), and CFSA's Office of Organizational Development and Practice Improvement (ODPI). It reviews specific programs that supported achievement of safety, permanence, and well being for children in foster care and their families.Annual Public Report 2006: Implementing the Adoption and Safe Families Amendment Act of 2000 in the District of Columbia* The Quality Service Review (QSR) is a qualitative method of gathering data and providing feeback about individual child welfare cases and the system as a whole. The QSR examines case practive, systems, and outcomes for individual children and famililes to identify strengths and ares taht need improvement. Quality Services Review Report Fall 2007*   Appendix A: Charts by Indicator* Appendix B: Case Stories* Appendix C: Review Teams* This is CFSA's third annual report of trends, findings and recommendations about fatalities of children who had contact with the DC Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) at anytime in the past four years. It is a vehicle for assisting CFSA in improving case pratice, correcting difficiencies, strengthening child protective performance, and identifying systemic factors that require citywide attention - all with the goal of reducing preventable child deaths. The report also informs the public of CFSA's efforts to ensure the safety of children in  the District's custody. Child Fatalities, 2006* This is the first report about the Grandparent Caregiver Pilot Program (GCPP) which the District established under the Grandparent Caregivers Pilot Program Establishment Act of 2005. Grandparent Caregiver Pilot Program: Annual Status Report for 2006*     Performance Scorecards   The Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) publishes best practice performance scorecards illustrating the performance of CFSA and its private agency partners in their best practice outcomes and benchmarks.  Those outcomes and benchmarks are derived from the LaShawn Implementation Plan established by the Federal Court Order in 2003.
